Why Surge SuppressionAre you interested in reducing maintenance problems and improving the efficiency of your valuable computerized equipment? Today’s “polluted” electrical environment is at odds with the advancing use of computers and computerized controls for manufacturing, laboratory, and office equipment. Properly applied suppression will prevent voltage surges, spikes, transients, and electrical noise from damaging the sensitive components of your equipment. Voltage surges are generated by 80% of sources within a plant (welding, induction motors, air compressors, etc.), and by 20% of sources outside a plant (lightning, neighboring plants, powerline damage, power company load changes, etc.). The problems they cause such as memory loss, circuit board failure, axis shift, machine run-away, and other erratic electrical failures are often accepted as a necessary evil. These maintenance headaches can be avoided. Preventing equipment failure and loss of production caused by voltage surges is essential. Using suppression technology will prevent these failures. A standard device switches from low conductance to high conductance at a pre-determined voltage level, establishing a “fixed clamping level”. However, if the energy present in the electrical disturbance (surge, transient spike) exceeds the capability of the device, it will fail. In turn, this causes all of the surge energy below the “fixed clamping level” to pass through to the protected load. In the Matech suppressor the surge energy is consumed as the voltage rises and instantly begins to dissipate energy contained in a surge or transient at its inception. It continues to dissipate the remaining energy before the voltage reaches a level sufficient to be destructive or disruptive to the protected load. The input power efficiency is then enhanced. Other devices tend to deteriorate as they function while Matech suppressors maintain a constant level of protection. Why surge suppression from Matech LLC? Our technology provides a solid state transient voltage protection system that will not degrade over time. Fuses are an integral part of our design and are coordinated with our suppression technology to provide protection from any level of transients. Steady, clean power is the foundation for any machine to function as it was designed, and Matech LLC provides the best quality product that can maintain a machine’s original design state. |
